YNW Melly Double Murder Trial Gets New Date
After his double murder trial was declared a mistrial, a judge has set a date for the start of YNW Melly’s new trial. Jury selection, set to begin Oct. 2, will now begin Oct. 9.
Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy declared a mistrial after a 12-member jury panel was unable to decide after three days of deliberations.
The state of Florida argues that Melly, real name Jamell “Melly” Demons was the shooter who killed Christopher “Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “Sakchaser” Williams on Oct. 26, 2018.

They then accuse the rapper of staging a drive-by shooting in Miramar with the help of his friend, Cortlen “Bortlen” Henry.
A former juror spoke out this week, blaming a female juror for the failure to reach a verdict.
“From day one, she had issues with the foreperson selected, at one point crossing her arms and saying she was ‘done!’” the former juror Local 10 News.
“When another juror asked to not shut down and set her feelings aside, she exploded … She was explosive, manipulative, she was rude, she yelled insults at anyone who had a different opinion.”
