Erica Mena Apologizes For ‘Blue Monkey’ Comment: ‘I Wasn’t Being Racist’

Erica Mena is apologizing for her monkey comments. The reality star was heavily criticized and dragged across social media after making the racial remark.

“I deeply regret my insensitive comment and want to humbly apologize to anybody I hurt or offended by my thoughtlessness,” she said in a statement to TMZ.

“My choice of words was wrong, and I take full responsibility for what I said.”

She went on to say, “”I am committed to listening to the voices of those affected and will work toward making amends. As a woman of color and the mother of two black children, I want to make it clear that my use of that word was not in any way racially driven.”

No word yet on whether she personally apologized to Spice. She has since been fired from Love & Hip Hop, as well as “All BLK Network.”

According to the network, Erica will appear on the upcoming season of the show – and be paid for her role accordingly. However, the network says that Erica will not be invited back for further seasons.

An executive at All Blk, allegedly said that they are “actively looking to re-cast Erica’s role with another actress.” Erica was set to make “six figures” for her role on Hush.
