Police Searching For Killer Who Was Last Seen Shimmying Up Prison Wall Backwards

Authorities are currently on a manhunt for a killer “on the loose”. The man was reportedly last seen captured on surveillance shimmying up between two brick walls in a suburban Philadelphia jail yard.

According to news source Wesh 2, Danelo Cavalcante, 34, then climbed over razor wire, jumped from a roof in a breakout that wasn’t detected by guards for a full hour—ultimately leading to his escape.

The timeline and details of Cavalcante’s escape line up with the exact route another prisoner reportedly took in May which led to the jail adding wire to the escape area. Cavalcante was identified as missing after a headcount. A public siren was sounded about 10 a.m. Additionally, an unidentified tower guard on duty during the escape, was put on leave as part of the investigation.

Authorities have now reached day 7 of the wide man hunt for Cavalcante who was serving a life sentence for killing his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, in front of her children in 2021. Prosecutors say he killed her to stop her from telling police he was wanted in a 2017 killing back in Brazil. Cavalcante escaped once before while awaiting transfer.

Since his escape, Cavalcante has reportedly been spotted six times. He was seen in a residential area but soon disappeared into the woods and another occurrence walking along a trail in the state.

Police from various agencies have flooded a search zone of increasingly worried residents and are urging them to keep their homes and vehicles locked, look out for missing cars, bicycles, or other transportation Cavalcante might use.

A resident, Ryan Drummond, 42, believes Cavalcante broke into his home. He believes he came in through French doors that had a broken lock. The intruder reportedly left with “a peach, an apple, maybe a few snap peas” and a white hat. The hunt for Cavalcante continues.
