Jada Pinkett Smith Says She Initially Thought Oscars Slap Was A Skit

After revealing that she and Will Smith have been separated for 7 years during an exclusive interview with today, Jada Pinkett also dropped another bombshell.

Tupac’s Widow revealed that she initially thought Will’s infamous Oscar slap was a skit. “I thought, ‘This is a skit,’” she explained.

“I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him,’” she went on. “It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit.”

She says after the show she asked him if he was “okay.” “I’m going to be by his side,” she said, “but also allow him to have to figure this out for himself.”

Will slapped Chris during last year’s Oscars ceremony after he made a joke about Jada’s bald head.

Many thought she could’ve done more to defend her estranged husband…but it appears her initial thoughts were that it performative.
