Amanda Seales Speaks On Not Being Recognized Within The Black Spaces In The Entertainment Industry
Amanda Seales is speaking out on not getting the recognition she deserves, especially within the Black spaces in the entertainment industry. The comedian and actress says she hasn’t gotten her flowers yet.
“Y’all really think I ain’t doing shit because the industry that I am in does not recognize me,” Amanda began in a video she shared on her Instagram page.
”The Black spaces is what I’m referring to. You know I don’t get invited to Essence Women in Hollywood… I’ve never been invited to the NAACP Awards.. Never been invited to the NAACP major awards,” she added. In the caption, she wrote; “Go where you are loved and y’all remind me daily where the love is. Thank you.”.

The video is now making rounds online, garnering mixed reactions from fans. “People complaining that she’s always mad, she literally be mad about the mistreatment of our community!” someone commented. “IF ANY MF BODY is deserving of an INVITATION it’s…. Amanda!!!!” another person wrote.
“We may not agree with all of her positions but at least she’s not afraid to take one. At a time when mainstream is to shut off the voices of Black people, we should all want her to be welcomed into every space. Her voice deserves to be heard and she deserves to be welcomed into those spaces. SMH at us thinking it’s ok otherwise!” someone else shared.
“Not invited, don’t ask!! go where you are celebrated and appreciated,” a fourth user penned. “I like her but i think she can come off as confrontational and unfriendly with her opinions… i do believe she should be invited tho,” another netizen wrote.
From 2017 to 2021, Seales starred in the HBO comedy series Insecure. In 2019, HBO released her first stand-up comedy special I Be Knowin. In 2020, Seales launched Smart Funny & Black, a comedy gameshow that showcases Black culture, history, and experience. Amanda was also one of the co-hosts of the syndicated daytime talk show, The Real.
