Congratulations are in order for Cardi B who just set a new record on YouTube. The Bronx rapper’s 2017 hit song ‘Bodak Yellow’ has now become the most watched solo female rap video on YouTube.

Bodak Yellow has amassed 1.1 billion views on YouTube in the course of 7 years. This is a new milestone for Cardi and she just raised the standard with this new feat.

The record is previously held by Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ which also has 1.1 billion views on YouTube but lesser numbers behind Cardi B’s ‘Bodak Yellow’ as of now. “Nicki held that record for years, and we only DOWN by 10k?! We’ll have that back in the morning after our sold out show today,” a Nicki fan commented.

“I promise if my Cardi and Nicki collab they would break the internet harder than Beyonce, I honestly don’t understand the beef but women unite it’s 2024 and the ts draining,” another fan wrote.

‘Bodak Yellow’ is the major-label debut single by Cardi B, written alongside Pardison Fontaine, Klenord Raphael, and producers J. White Did It and Laquan Green. Kodak Black earned a credit for the song for the interpolation of his song “No Flockin”.

‘Bodak Yellow’ was released on June 16, 2017, by Atlantic Records as the lead single from her debut studio album Invasion of Privacy which dropped in 2018.

It was named as the best song of 2017 by The Washington Post and Pitchfork music critics, and it was regarded by many publications as one of the songs that defined the 2010s decade. ’Bodak Yellow’ topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for three consecutive weeks, making Cardi B the second female rapper to reach number one with a solo song, following Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
