Erykah Badu Suggests Beyoncé Stole Her Look For “Cowboy Carter” Album Cover, “Say Somethin Jay”

Beyoncé is currently gearing up for the release of her new album “Cowboy Carter”, looking to explore new sound with country music. The iconic singer shared her new album cover and it caught Erykah Badu’s interest.

The limited edition artwork for her upcoming Cowboy Carter was released on Wednesday, featuring Bey holding a cigar, wearing long beaded braids, and a sash that reads, “act ii BEYINCÉ” which is a nod to the 43-year-old mother’s maiden name.

However, Badu caught up with the cover and she felt some type of way about Bey’s look. The 53-year-old then shared it to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, captioning it with a mere, “Hmmm.”

Of course, the short caption means a lot and fans were quick to decode that Badu is accusing Beyonce of jacking her style. The Beyhive have since launched into attack mode that Badu had to run to Twitter to cry for help.

Taking to X formerly Twitter, Erykah urged Jay-Z to come to her rescue. “Say somethin Jay. You gone let this woman and these bees do this to me??” she tweeted.

This isn’t the first time Badu will be accusing Beyoncé of copying her style. She also targeted the mother of three last year over hats she wore during her “Renaissance” tour. Apparently, she’s been waiting for the moment to erupt and she finally got the trigger with “Cowboy Carter” cover.

Notwithstanding, Bey gave Badu a shoutout on the “Queens Remix” of “Break My Soul,” along with other Black women icons such as Betty Davis, Lauryn Hill, and Robert Flack.

Bey responded to Badu’s comment at the time by singing “Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu,” while performing the song during her Renaissance Tour stop in Massachusetts.
