Karen Huger Blames DUI Crash On Being Emotional About Her Mother’s Passing & Upcoming Mother’s Day Holiday

We previously reported that RHOP star Karen Huger, has been hit with DUI charges in connection to car crash. Well, the reality Tv star is breaking her silence on the matter and says she was emotional over the passing of her mother and the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday.

“With the  passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mother’s Day approaching it has felt more like a tsunami,” Karen said in a statement to TMZ.

“Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider and then a tree.”

She continued, “I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”

Karen added, “I would like to stress, it’s important to understand your emotional state when driving and may this be a reminder to all to use their seatbelts, my Mother may be my Guardian Angel but the seatbelt saved my life.”

For context, Karen Huger’s mom died in late 2017 on Thanksgiving day. Folks online have since been reacting to Karen’s statement. “No accountability.. just an run on excuse and deflection.. ya got a DUI.. for being under the influence.. not a Driving While Emotional..” someone commented.

“Have y’all ever lost a parent before that shit will fuck with you forever,” another person wrote in support of Huger. “Mother’s is 7 weeks away…so you got drunk early? Mama up there like girl lie on me again!! You could’ve sat in the house and drunk your licka.. what you go outside for??” someone else added.
