Clothing Store, Express, Has Filed For Bankruptcy

It appears a lot of our longstanding retail stores are going out of business! According to court documents, clothing store Express, has closed dozens of stores after filing for bankruptcy protection.

According to a report by NPR, the company has a survival plan that includes being sold. Per the report, “Express has received a bid to be acquired by a consortium.

It includes brand-management firm WHP Global and major mall operators Simon Property Group and Brookfield Properties. The companies in recent years have been investing in more retail brands in need of a resuscitation.”

Express has been losing both shoppers and money. This isn’t the first longstanding retail store to take this route. Sears, Forever21, and Macy’s all suffered the same fate.

“This is where you could always find a good outfit for an interview,” someone commented on the news. “Express, has been expensive since I was damn near in diapers. I’ve wondered for years how they were still in business,” another person claimed.

“Now I’m convinced, ya don’t work !!!! Bc why are all the work/professional stores closing … New York Co, Dress Barn, now Express,” someone else shared.

“They used to sell the BEST pants. Fit, style and quality were on point. They also stopped care xtra large tops,” another user wrote. “Everyone shops online now, but damn I miss being able to go into a store and try stuff on. This isn’t good. We need brick and mortars,” someone added.
