Lizzo Clarifies She Didn’t Mean She Was Quitting Music: ‘I Meant I Quit Giving Negative Energy Attention’

Lizzo made headlines over the weekend, after the 35-year-old pop star seemingly announced that she was quitting music as she was ‘tired of getting dragged by everyone‘ and being criticized because of how she looks. The announcement came as a shock to fans and many have since been showing her love and support.

Just in, Lizzo is now clarifying her previous announcement, saying she didn’t mean she was quitting music, but instead she’s quitting giving negative energy attention.

“I want to make this video because I just need to clarify, when I say I quit, I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention,” the singer said in a new video.  “What I’m not gonna quit is the joy of my life which is making music, which is connecting people, cause I know I’m not alone. In no way shape or form am I the only person who’s experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.”

She continued, “If I can just give one person the inspiration and motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people win, negative comments win, the I’ve done even more than I could have hoped for.”

“With that being said, I’m going to keep moving forward I’m gonna keep being me. Once again, I just wanna say ‘thank you’, the love that I’ve received means more than you know,” the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer added.

In the lengthy post she previously made that was misinterpreted, Lizzo wrote: “I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it,” she wrote in a lengthy post.

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name.” She added, “I didn’t sign up for this sh*t. I QUIT.”
