Ryan Garcia Says “You Guys Hate On Me Cause I’m Pretty” After Defeating Devin Haney

Ryan Garcia had fans worried in the past couple months about his mental health and surprisingly, the man whom many believe is not psychologically stable defeated Devin Haney, scoring 3 knockdowns.

Ryan landed 106 of 285 blows (37.2%) according to Compubox’s punch statistics, compared to 87 of 214 for Haney (40.7%). But the disparity in power shots made all the difference with Garcia landing more than twice as many (95) as his opponent (45).

“You guys hate on me cause I’m pretty and sh*t.. Man that’s f*cked up. At the end of the day, I’ve been boxing my whole life. And all I do is love God and try to help the children. And you guys straight hating on me. You guys do not love the truth,” Garcia said after the fight in a clip that has since gone viral on social media.

“Come on guys, you really thought I was crazy?” the boxer asked the masses who viewed his stunning three-knockdown majority decision victory over previously unbeaten Devin Haney at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “You done lost your own mind.”

“He lowkey funny as hell,” someone commented on the clip. “He brought up those kid trafficking rings and everybody got quiet I hope they protect him at all cost. The plan was not for him to win,” another person wrote. “”Don’t hate me cause im beautiful ” ahh speech,” someone who else added.

Although Haney showed remarkable grit and recuperative powers, he couldn’t keep out of the way of Garcia’s loaded shots. After going down beneath a heavy right in the 10th and a vicious counter left in the 11th, the bloodied champion spent most of the final session on the receiving end of Garcia’s taunts. Seldom has boxing’s reputation as the theater of the unexpected been more apt.

“I’m disappointed with my performance,” Haney said. “But I showed I’m a true champion and I can fight after being knocked down and hurt. He caught me early, caught me by surprise. We trained for [the left hook], but I got in there and I fell asleep, and he caught me with it.

“I was more surprised than hurt the first time. He jumped on me, like we knew he would, but I was just sleeping. I thought the ref let him turn his back and hold a little too much.”
