Charles Barkley Blasted For Comments On 2003 Kobe Bryant Rape Scandal
Charles Barkley Faces Backlash For Response To Kobe Bryant Rape Case
Despite the fact that Kobe Bryant death is a huge loss to the sporting scene and the world at large due to his good heart and legacy, some still drag his name in the dirt over an alleged rape case in 2003.
Fans have been showing their support for the late Lakers icon and trying to prevent his reputation from being tarnished by critics.
Gayle King was among those who felt the heat of the internet when she brought up Kobe’s rape case during an interview with Lisa Leslie. She was later forced to apologize before the controversy died down.
Well, Recently on ‘Inside the NBA invaded Today’, hosts Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal sat down to discuss their friend Kobe Bryant. They were asked if they believed, as journalists, it was inappropriate for King to raise those questions so soon after his death.
Kenny Smith spoke at length about Kobe’s influence and how we’re all “imperfect people,” but it was Charles Barkley’s response that sparked uproar online.
“Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players, ever, and he had a flaw that we all know about,” said Barkley. “You have to tell the picture in totality. We’re not trying to make Kobe out to be no hero. We’re celebrating his basketball excellence. We understand what happened in Colorado. That’s fair, but two things can be true.”

But his remarks didn’t sit down well with many as they’ve been calling him out for being an hater and betraying his friend.

Wild how all the people who ripped Charles Barkley for his misogyny directed towards the female journalist/reporter a few months back are now applauding his Kobe hero comment. Interesting..smh….
