Wendy’s Manager Throws Hot Oil On Customer During Altercation

A Wendy’s manager was arrested in Huntingdon, Tennesee after he allegedly threw hot oil on a customer who complained about receiving cold food.

Zayveon Johnson was visiting a Wendy’s drive-thru on Oct. 5 where he ordered his meal and realized it was too cold to eat. While making a complaint to the shift manager, hot oil was thrown at him.

His mother explained her son’s experience to WBBJTV : “Hee was like, ‘Momma, I really thought that he was going to go to the back and get my food right, and bring it back.’ He said, ‘It shocked me when he threw the grease on me.” The incident left Johnson with second and third-degree burns and blisters on his arm.

The shift manager, identified as 23-year-old Demarrus Pritchett, reportedly threw the hot oil towards Johnson and later explained to police that the victim harassed him for months before the incident.

A statement from the Huntington Police Department says Pritchett used a cup of hot oil to strike the victim after he was making the complaint.

The video shows that the young man, the employee, left the drive-thru window and went to the cooking area and got a container cup of hot oil from the vet, french fry vet, came back, opened the window back up, and threw it on the man that was making the complaint,”

The victim was later transported to the Baptist Memorial Hospital for burn treatment. A statement has yet to be released by Wendy’s in reference to the incident.

Pritchett confessed to throwing the oil on the victim and was charged with aggravated assault. He was later released from the Carroll County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
