Florida Woman Sues Southwest Airlines Flight For Kicking Her Out After Taking Off Her Mask To Drink Water
Florida Woman Files Lawsuit After Being Kicked Off Of Southwest Airlines Flight For Taking Off Her Mask To Drink Water
A Southwest Airline passenger filed a lawsuit against the airline, claiming the airline’s employees kicked her off of the flight after she took off her mask to drink water.
The lawsuit was filed at a federal court in New York City last week by Medora Clai Reading.
According to the lawsuit, Reading,68. said she removed her masks because she needed to drink water for a medical condition and has a medical exemption for a heart condition, low blood pressure, and claustrophobia.

However, after being told to put her mask over her nose and mouth by a flight attendant, Reading was kicked off of the Palm Beach-bound flight. She was heading home from Washington D.C.
She has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the airline and added that the flight attendant ignored her medical exemption card. She claims the worker said, “We don’t care” in response to seeing the documentation.
Reading said she tearfully exited out of the plane as she was escorted by a gate attendant. A rep for Southwest Airlines told the Miami-Herald there was no comment on Reading’s lawsuit due to pending litigation.
“There is no commentary to share in the media regarding now-pending litigation.”
