Woman Charged After Teen Son Was Found In Car Trunk At Drive-Thru COVID Testing Site
A Texas mom is charged with child endangerment after her son was found in the trunk of her car at a COVID-19 drive-thru site.
Sarah Bean’s son tested positive for the coronavirus on January 3 and she allegedly forced the teen to lay in her car trunk so he could remain “quarantined.”
According to the Daily Mail, Beam was taking her son to the drive-thru site at the Ken Pridgeon Stadium in Harris County so he could get tested again. However, health services director Bevin Gordon heard a noise inside Beam’s truck and said she explained that she needed to protect herself from the virus.
Gordon refused to test the teen until he was safely placed inside the backseat of Beam’s vehicle.
Police said Beam works as a teacher in the Cy-Fair school district and she was placed on administrative leave due to the nature of the incident.
The Cy-Fair Police Department also said in the following statement that her child was not harmed en route to the testing site.
“CFPD was alerted that a child was in the trunk of a car at a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site earlier this week. Law enforcement conducted a full investigation, resulting in a warrant for arrest. Thankfully, the child was not harmed.”
