Brittney Griner’s Coach Says “If It Was LeBron, He’d Be Home Right?”
Earlier this week Brittney Griner’s coach made an interesting comment about the players incarceration in Russia.
Vanessa Nygaard, ad coach of the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, put out the notion that Brittney would’ve already been back in the US by now is she were LeBron James.
“If it was LeBron, he’d be home, right? Vanessa asked. It’s a statement about the value of women. It’s a statement about the value of a black person. It’s a statement about the value of a gay person. All of those things. We know it, and so that’s what hurts a little more.”

Brittney has been locked up in Russia since her arrest at the airport in mid-February.
She wrote an open letter to President Biden this week, pleading for his help. He has promised to do his part and get her home.
We reported yesterday that Brittney Griner has pleaded guilty in Russian court to drug charges. She admitted to bringing cannabis into the country but saying she had packed in a hurry and did not intend to break the law.
“I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law,” she said in court. Britney can face up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
