We reported last week that Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson has passed away at age 26, the team announced last Wednesday.

“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson,” the team said in a statement.

“He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality.” Ferguson, who starred at Louisiana Tech, was a third-round pick by the Ravens in the 2019 NFL Draft. “It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson. The family asks for your prayers and privacy during this trying time,” Ferguson’s agent, Safarrah Lawson, told NFL.com.

New reports reaching us at Dreddsworld is that Jaylon Ferguson died from the combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine, according to a spokesman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

His death had been ruled an accident following an autopsy of the 26-year-old. This confirms our earlier report that Jaylon Ferguson most likely died of drug overdose.

He played college football at Louisiana Tech before being drafted 85th overall by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the Ravens.

In the 2020 season, Ferguson started in one game and appeared in 14 total, finishing the season with 2.0 sacks and 30 tackles. In 2021, Ferguson appeared in 10 games, recording six tackles but no sacks.
