Mississippi Grand Jury Declines To Indict White Woman Carolyn Bryant Whose Accusation Started The Lynching Of Emmett Till
A grand jury in Mississippi has declined to indict Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman whose accusation set off the lynching of Emmett Till almost 70 years ago.
At the end of June, an unserved arrest warrant was found inside the Leflore County court house that was originally issued for Carolyn back in the 50s, when the murder of Emmett Till initially happened.
With this new revelation and a memoir from Carolyn admitting her wrongs in the lynching, Till’s family wanted a grand jury to press official charges against her.

A Leflore County grand jury considered more than 7 hours of hearings with evidence and testimony from investigators and witnesses to bring justice to Emmett, but the jury decided there wasn’t enough evidence to ultimately indict Carolyn on kidnapping and manslaughter charges.
