Dwyane Wade’s Daughter Zaya Is Now Legally A Girl After Judge Overruled Mother’s Objections

Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya has been granted the official name and gender change she’s wanted – despite Zaya’s mother’s objections.

According to new legal docs filed in L.A. County, a judge just signed off on granting a new legal identity for Dwyane’s transgender 15-year-old.

Zaya was given the name Zaire at birth. Doctors determined, at the time, that he was a “male.” But Zaya, with the help of her father Dwyane Wade and step-mother Gabrielle Union, now identifies as a female, and petitioned the court for legal recognition.

Dwyane’s kid is now legally Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade and her official gender is female.

Zaya came out as trans back in 2020, when she was just 13 years old.

While Dwyane and Gabrielle are happy about Zaya’s legal change – which now makes the teenager eligible for gender reassignment surgery – Zaya’s mother is not happy with the result.

Zaya’s mother, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, as against her youngest child’s gender change – at least while Zaya was still a minor. Dwyane said the change was in their child’s best interest and ripped Shiovaughn’s opposition as “nonsensical.”
