Tenants In Toronto Go On Strike

It seems as though these strikes across the North American continent are not stopping any time soon as a new strike has begun in Toronto, Canada.

According to CTV News, more than 300 tenants in the country’s most populous city have quit paying rent and are currently on strike against the city in efforts to lower rent costs.

Tenants are unhappy with rent increases as apartment buildings have cut several amenities out from being used by tenants due to renovations and repairs. Landlords are allegedly raising rents in order to cover those costs.

The Writers Strike has been going on for almost 3 months with Hollywood writers refusing to work until they are paid what they believe they’re owed. Though this is a great cause to fight, they might be in for a steep battle ahead.

According to Deadline, multiple sources in Hollywood say that studios are preparing to allow the strike to go on for so long until everyone is broke and begging for their job back.

“I think we’re in for a long strike, and they’re going to let it bleed out,” said one industry veteran intimate with the POV of studio CEOs said to Deadline.

The plan is to reportedly allow the writers to strike as long as they can before they “break”. The sources in Hollywood claim that this has been the plan since the first day of the strike.
