Former College Student Stabs Mother To Death So She Wouldn’t Find Out She Got Kicked Out Of School

According to WKYC, a former Ohio college student has been found guilty of killing her mother in 2020. The reason being? She did not want her mother to find out she had been kicked out of school.

23-year-old Sydney Powell was convicted of two counts of murder on Wednesday, as well as one count each of felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

Akron police officers found Brenda Powell, the suspect’s mother, seriously wounded inside their home on March 3, 2020. She and Sydney had been arguing when the suspect hit her in the head with an iron skillet.

Sydney then stabbed her mother almost 30 times in the neck, according to The Summit County Medical Examiner. Both women were taken to the hospital upon police arrival; however, Brenda Powell passed away from her injuries.

Sydney Powell is now facing life in prison for her heinous crime and will be sentenced on September 28.
