Woman Sentenced To 18 Years In Prison For Running Over Her Boyfriend

This is a cautionary tale to everyone that the crime of passion is not worth it! An Indianapolis woman was sentenced to 18 years in prison for running over her boyfriend and killing him after she caught him at a bar with another woman.

According to WTHR, On June 3, 2022, Gaylyn Morris ran over her boyfriend Andre Smith with her car multiple times in the parking lot of Tilly’s Pub and Grill in Castleton.

Gaylyn was able to track Andre to the bar with an Apple AirTag. Once she arrived, she saw Andre there with another woman and fought them both before going outside and running Andre over multiple times.

Gaylyn was charged with murder. Smith’s mother, Laprecia Sanders, is still angry with the jury’s conviction on a lesser charge. She asked the judge at the sentencing hearing for the maximum 30 years in prison for Morris.

“My son did not deserve to be murdered because of her seeing him with another woman because she’s been seeing him with other women,” Sanders testified. “This has been going on. He was not married to her. He didn’t owe her anything. He doesn’t share a kid with her or anything.”

Gaylyn apologized before the judge announced her sentence.”I just want to apologize to Andre’s family for the hurt and pain that I caused, and to his daughter,” Morris said.

“I understand that this is a tragic situation for everyone that sits in this court room, and I’m so sorry that I caused it. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would and it would be handled much differently, so differently. I’m praying for their strength, healing and recovery. Once again, I’m so sorry for his family. I’m very sorry. I apologize.”
