A Mississippi Mother & Her Son Have Been Missing For Months After Woman Allegedly Joined An Online Cult In Missouri
A Mississippi woman and her son have been missing for over 5 months due to the woman allegedly joining a cult in Missouri.
According to WJTV, Gerrielle German, 27, and her 3-year-old son were last seen in Horn Lake, MS in July of last year. Gerrielle’s mother, Shelita Gipson, claims that her daughter said she was going on a “spiritual journey”, but she didn’t know that meant she would be joining a cult in a whole other state.
Shelita says her daughter was dropped off in Berkeley, Missouri by a friend and was never seen again. Gerrielle has since turned her phone off and deleted all her social media accounts.

“I just want to know if she’s okay, if the baby is okay, if they need anything,” Gipson said. “Are they cold, are they hungry, is she dead, is she alive? That’s all I need to know. Her choices are her choices and I can’t do anything about her choices.”
The cult Gerrielle is believed to be a part of is run by a man named Rashad Jamal, a self-proclaimed prophet who has thousands of followers across his social media platforms. Jamal’s teachings include New Age and nature spiritualism, Afrocentrism, esoterism and occultism, polygamy and conspiracy theories.
He preaches that he is a god, as are all Black and Latino people. Neighbors of the house in Berkeley say they often saw the members of the cult outside worshiping the sun and running around the yard in the rain.
The craziest part about the story is that Rashad is currently serving 18 years in prison for child molestation! Despite his conviction, Gerrielle and others are still reportedly strong followers of him.
Authorities say Gerrielle and her son are among a group of 6 people that are currently missing. The other 4 people include 3 women and one other child. The investigation is ongoing.
