Man Who Jumped Las Vegas Judge Faces Multiple Felony Charges Including Attempted Murder
Deobra Redden, the man who jumped the Las Vegas judge inside the courtroom, is finally learning the exact charges he’ll be facing as a result of the attack.
Redden appeared in court this week in front of a different judge inside a different courtroom to answer for his egregious attack on Judge Mary Kay Holthus on Jan. 3, 2024.
According to Fox 5 Vegas, Redden is facing over a dozen felony charges including attempted murder on an older person.

The full list of felonies includes: attempted murder against an older person, battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm against an older person, extortion, intimidating a public officer with threat of force, disregarding the safety of a person resulting in substantial bodily harm, battery by a probationer or parolee, unlawful act regarding fluid by a prisoner in confinement, and battery on a protected person (6 counts).
Judge Diana Sullivan is the new judge presiding over this case, and during the hearing she made it clear that she wasn’t friends with Judge Holthus and that she would be handling this case with 0 bias. Redden’s next court date will be next month.
As of right now, it is unclear how many years he’ll be facing for this specific attack, but he has already been sentenced to a minimum of 19 months to 4 years in prison on battery charges that he was originally in court for before the attack.
