Oakland Schools Will Allow COVID-Positive Students To Attend Classes As Long As They Aren’t Showing Symptoms
Oakland Unified School District has announced that they will allow students and staff who have Covid-19 to attend classes as long as they aren’t showing any symptoms.
OUSD made the announcement on Monday and based it on updated guidance from the California Department of Public Health.
“The updated guidance moves towards a more symptom-based approach to COVID-19, similar to guidance for other illnesses. Most important to note, the new guidance removes the recommendation for a 5-day isolation period following a COVID-19 positive test,” the team wrote.

OSD also said wearing a mask is optional. The district asked that Covid-positive students/staff stay away from high-risk individuals while on campus.
