Trans-Woman Insists That Trans-Women Get Periods Because Bleeding Is Only A “Symptom” of Menstruation

A Trans-Woman is going viral for her belief that Trans-Women experience periods because bleeding is only a “symptom” of menstruation.

In a post on “X,” CaptAmazo wrote, “Bleeding and shedding your uterine lining is a SYMPTOM of your period, not the cause. Your period is caused by your HORMONE levels, and the physiological effects they have on your body. Trans women hormone levels fluctuate on HRT just like cis women. We do in fact get periods.”

This was in response to another user stating that trans-women who believe they are experiencing periods are delusional.

“You’re not getting a “period”. Honestly this reads as a super creepy and misogynistic delusion. Stop reducing and appropriating the struggles that cis women actually face, said Jania.

It’s important to note that the definition of period stemming from Oxford Languages says:

“A period is a flow of BLOOD and other material from the lining of the UTERUS, occurring in nonpregnant women at intervals of about 28 days between puberty and menopause and typically lasting for a few days.”
