A mother and daughter have lost their lives after they were shot and killed right outside their home. According to WCVB, 27-year-old Chasity Nunez and her 11-year-old daughter Zella, who is legally blind, were sitting outside their house in Worcester, MA when gunshots rang out towards their truck.

In surveillance video captured from the area, two men can be seen running up to the truck, firing shots, and running away. Witnesses say the shots sounded like a machine gun.

“It was around 3 o’clock, I was getting ready to run up to the store, and I heard a couple of shots fired from something that sounded like a machine gun,” said neighbor Michael Mahoney to NBC News. “Scary that you got to worry about getting shot in your own neighborhood, you know?”

Chasity and Zella both unfortunately passed away from their injuries. Karel Mangual, 28, was arrested hours later after police pinged his phone to the location of the shooting.

They were also able to identify his car from the surveillance video. Police are currently looking for his accomplice, 27-year-old Dejan Belnavis, who is also suspected to be one of the shooters in the murder. Mangual is being charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and one of owning a firearm without a license.

Chasity, who served in the National Guard and recently graduated with her 2nd masters, leaves behind another 2-year-old daughter who is now in the care of her father. Her family says her and Zella were beautiful souls that will be missed.

“I just hope they know the gravity of what they just did,” Chasity’s cousin Tyrae Sims said to NBC News. “They took two beautiful souls senselessly.”
