Halle Berry Says Her Doctor Mistakenly Diagnosed Her With The ‘Worst Case Of Herpes’, But She Was Actually Going Through Menopause

Halle Berry reveals she once went to the doctor because she’s having post-sex pain, and the doctor ended up telling her that she has the “worst case of herpes” he’s ever seen.

The award winning actress is opening up about how the bizarre experience led her to learn more about herself and women’s bodies as a whole.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, while on a women’s health panel with First Lady Jill Biden, Halle Berry began to explain what caused her to become a women’s health advocate, specifically for women experiencing menopause for the first time.

She says when she first got with her man, Van Hunt, they were having sex frequently. Then one day, she started experiencing discomfort after they were done doing their due, so she decided to take a trip to the doctor.

After explaining her symptoms to the doctor, he made a shocking revelation that he believed her pain was caused by “one of the worst cases of herpes he’s ever seen”. Halle, obviously taken aback by the news, immediately got tested, as well as her partner Van.

Thankfully, when the test came back, neither of them had the STD and the doctor made a huge, and incorrect, assumption about her symptoms. Turns out, Halle was in the beginning stages of perimenopause.

“I realized after the fact that is a symptom of perimenopause” due to dryness. She continued, “My doctor had no knowledge and didn’t prepare me, that’s when I knew, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve got to use my platform, I have to use all of who I am and I have to start making a change and a difference for other women.’”
