10-Year-Old Confesses To Shooting A Sleeping Man In The Head With His Grandfather’s Gun 2 Years Ago

A 10-year-old child has confessed to an unsolved murder that happened in Texas 2 years ago, telling detectives that he shot a guy he didn’t know while the victim was sleeping.

According to ABC News, Brandon O’Quinn Rasberry, 32, was shot in the head in 2022 while he slept at an RV park in Nixon, Texas, about 60 miles east of San Antonio, investigators said.

The boy’s potential involvement in the crime came to light on April 12, when sheriff’s deputies received a call regarding a pupil threatening to kill and assault another child on a school bus. They discovered that the youngster had admitted to killing someone two years prior and that his details were “consistent with first-hand knowledge” of the crime, investigators said.

The child said he had been at his grandfather’s house in the RV park, a few lots away from Rasberry. He said he got the 9 mm pistol from his grandfather’s truck’s glove compartment, describing it as “dirt and army green” in hue.

Investigators reported that the child had entered Rasberry’s RV, shot him in the head, fired again into the couch, and then left and put the pistol back in the vehicle.

After Rasberry missed two days of work, his body was discovered. The youngster reported that the pistol was later sold by his grandfather and found in a pawn shop with the matching round castings.

The Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office sent a news release stating that the youngster, who was just under eight years old when the man was shot two years ago, has been assessed at a mental health facility, but cannot be charged with the crime due to his age.

According to Texas law, a child cannot be criminally responsible until they are at least ten years old.
