An Austin man is going viral after he was arrested for assaulting a retail employee with Pop-Tarts. The man identified as Jonathan Steele, is facing second-degree felony robbery charges.
Police said the assault by Pop-Tarts happened at the Walgreen’s on S 1st Street and Stassney.
According to arrest documents, a store employee accused Steele, 33, of shoplifting, leading to an argument between the two in the parking lot.

Police said video captured the moment the altercation escalated and Steele threw Pop-Tarts at the employee, hitting them in the collar bone and causing minor injury.
Steele remains in jail on a $1,500 bond. The news has since gone viral on social media, garnering reactions from surprised netizens.
“There should be a law where if a crime is funny enough, they let you go,” someone commented. “Pop Tart power at its peak! What flavor was he wielding, though?” another person jokingly asked.
“I’ve never seen something more American than getting attacked with a pastry loaded with preservatives,” someone else penned. “Imagine going to prison and telling the other inmates it’s because you beat someone with a pop tart,” another user added.
