YouTube Confirms 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj’s “Trollz” Didn’t Break Hip Hop Record for Most Views in 24 Hours

Tekashi 6ix9ine is believed to have broken his own record for the most viewed YouTube Hip Hop music video in the first 24 hours with his recent smash hit “TROLLZ” featuring Nicki Minaj.

However, YouTube has since denied this. According to XXL, a rep from YouTube shared a statement revealing that “TROLLZ” 6.4 million views short of surpassing “GOOBA.”

Nicki already took to Instagram page to celebrate the feat. “Thank you for watching y’all 🙏 #TrollzVideo just broke the record for most views ever in 24 hours for a hip hop video🌈♥️🎀🎈🎉🥰 46 million & counting,” she captioned a report that “Trollz” had “the most views in hip hop history in less than 24 hours.”

But it appears most of the numbers are void. A rep shared that “videos eligible for YouTube’s 24-hour record debuts are those with the highest views from organic sources within the first 24 hours of the video’s public release.”

“This includes direct links to the video, search results, external sites that embed the video and YouTube features like the homepage, watch next and Trending.

“Video advertising is an effective way to reach specific audiences with a song debut, but paid advertising views on YouTube will no longer be considered when looking at a 24-hour record debut.”
