6-Year-Old Palestinian-American Boy Stabbed 26 Times By 71-Year-Old Landlord In Hate Attack

A 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy was unfortunately stabbed 26 times in what is being called a hate crime. According to CNN, Wadea Al Fayoume was stabbed 26 times on Saturday by his landlord, 71-year-old Joseph M. Czuba.

Court documents revealed that the Illinois attack stemmed from Fayoume’s family being Muslim. Per the report, “Czuba’s wife told investigators after the incident on October 11, he told her he wanted Wadea and his mother to move out of the home.

The wife also told investigators that Czuba “believed that they were in danger and that (Shanin, the boy’s mother) was going to call over her Palestinian friends or family to harm them.”

Shanin told police that Czuba confronted her about what was happening in the Middle East with Israel and Hamas. Shanin says she told him to “pray for peace.”

That’s when Czuba attacked her with a knife. She locked herself in a nearby bathroom but wasn’t able to grab her son before doing so.

While in the bathroom she called 911 who could hear her son being stabbed in the back. Czuba was arrested shortly after. Police found Shanin waiting in front of the house with multiple facial wounds. Her son was transported to a hospital where he died.

Czuba was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of a hate crime and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
