Four Teens, Between The Ages Of 14 And 16, Were Killed In A Crash After A Police Cruiser Performed A Pit Maneuver To Stop Them From Speeding At 111 Mph

Four Florida teens, between the ages of 14 and 16, are dead after they were involved in a high-speed police chase, which involved a police cruiser performing a PIT maneuver to stop them from speeding at 111mph. Their car ended up spinning out of control and wrapped around a utility pole.

According to DailyMail, the police pursuit began after a vehicle was reported to have been stolen out of Gainesville on April 20th. A few hours later, the car was detected by a license plate reader.

Police turned on the sirens and called for backup. Deputies said there were several people inside the vehicle. At one point, the vehicle appeared to be slowing down but then the person in the driver seat hit the gas and sped off.

Police patrol vehicles were unable to keep up with the car because a device in their car prevents them from accelerating too fast. They ended up calling in the Florida Highway Patrol for assistance.

The trooper ended up performing a pit maneuver, which is when police hit the back of a moving car and spin it around, causing the car to stop while officers surround it. ‘The Honda subsequently rolled over before making contact with a cement pole.’

It took emergency personnel more than an hour-and-a-half to pull all of the victims out. Two were pronounced dead on the scene, while two others died days later in the hospital.

“But yet they let the DA drive home and tell them she wasn’t gonna stop,” someone commented on the news. “Very unfortunate situation but that officer had to take control of the situation. It’s sad that kids that age do stoopid stuff like that,” another person wrote.

“The kids shouldn’t have stolen a damn car and should have stopped when police tried to pull them over. Imagine how many lives the kids could have taken if they weren’t stopped. Y’all really be getting on my nerves so quick to blame police let’s be realistic here,” someone else penned.
