Mother Of 6 Killed After Meeting Up To Fight Over A Social Media Dispute

A mother of six tragically lost her life after meeting up to fight with someone she had been arguing with online.

According to New Orleans police, the victim, identified as 25-year-old Brittney Ussin, was found Monday suffering from a gunshot wound to the body near the intersection of Teche and Ptolemy Street.

Investigators say a social media dispute led to Ussin meeting up near McDonough Park to fight. Witnesses say only two people were fighting initially, but more people joined in as the fight continued. Witnesses say Ussin attempted to stop the figuring at one point by “spraying a substance” on the participants.

But as the women continued to fight another woman, 32-year-old Nayiondra Woolridge, pulled up to the scene and fired a shot striking Ussin. Witnesses and cellphone video helped police identify Woolridge.

Ussin’s family says she came into the world as an unexpected twin and left unexpectedly. They wish the women had talked out their differences because the families know each other very well.

“We should have been able to talk this out. We know this family personally,” said Cotrena McIntyre, Ussin’s aunt. Woolridge who is reportedly the mother of nine children, has been charged with second-degree murder, simple battery and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.

“15 kids without mothers now??? Senseless,” someone commented. “RIP to this mom. Victim is 25 W/ 6 kids and shooter is 32 w/ 9 kids. Y’all had so many reasons to choose otherwise smh,” another person wrote.

“Mother of 6 pulled up to fight!? A Mother of 6 children pulled up to fight!??? We gotta do better. This is so sad,” someone else penned. “The gun jammed twice… That was God given her 2 chances to rethink what she was about to do! She’s now where she need to be, throw away the key,” another user added.
